SPICE is a private non-profit located in Perry county, Ohio. Spice was started in 2000 by a group of concerned citizens to help improve the economic conditions in southern Perry County.  The main focus of SPICE’s mission is to help residents of Perry County start or expand successful microenterprises and has assisted over 400 individuals since 2000.

SPICE, The Southern Perry Incubation Center for Entrepreneurs, is a full service micro-enterprise development organization. SPICE’s Microenterprise Assistance Program (MAP) provides the following:

a)   Training: SPICE utilizes classroom instruction to take participants through the steps of starting a business and provides classes for specific business related instruction.

b)  Counseling: SPICE offers one on one individualized guidance, technical assistance, marketing & business planning and referrals to business development resource persons and organizations.

c)   Microenterprise Loans: SPICE offers low interest loans for low-to-moderate income entrepreneurs in the SPICE service area. Loans are available for start-up business capital or expansion of existing businesses.

d)  Business Incubator:  The SPICE incubator, the Southern Perry Business Center (SPBC), offers an alternative to operating home-based or out of a commercial location during start-up. The facility can provide space, central office equipment and support, graphic design/marketing assistance, and business counseling to entrepreneurs who need some time to develop their business before selecting a location of their own.

The Definition of a Micro-enterprise is a business with 5 or less employees and requires $35,000 or less to start-up or expand.
